How do I clear "Done" issues from my Board?

The method used depends on the type of Board.

“Done” is a status category in Jira and includes any statuses that indicate the issue is complete. “Done” statuses are Green and can include the following:

  • Closed

  • Done

  • Canceled

  • Completed

  • Accepted

If the Board is a Scrum Board (you have and Active Sprints option in the left pane), issues will remain on the Board if:

  1. The Board filter does not exclude that status

  2. The “Done” status is not mapped to the last column on the Board

  3. The issue is not in a Sprint

  4. The issue is in a Sprint but the Sprint is not completed.

“Done” issues (those with the green statuses) in a Sprint will clear the Board when the Sprint is completed.

If the Board is a Kanban Board (you don’t have an Active Sprints option in the left pane), issues will remain on the Board if:

  1. The Board filter does not exclude that status

  2. The “Done” status is not the last column on the Board

  3. The Board settings indicate how long “Done” issue will remain on the Board after and this issue will be removed from the Board after that time.

    1. To hide completed issues:

      1. Go to the desired board, then click  Board >  Configure.

      2. Scroll to the bottom of the page. In the Hide completed issues field, select the retention period.
Issues that weren't updated within this period will be hidden.

  4. The issue is not in a fix version

  5. The issue is in a fix version but that fix version hasn’t been Released yet.

    1. You can see this setting near the bottom of the General settings section of the Board Settings. Do not update this setting if you don’t know what you are doing.

You can clear these items from a Kanban board by adding them to a fix version and Releasing the fix version.
