Create Sub-Tasks Automation

Project Admins have the ability to create Automation Rules for their own projects.

To access Automation rules, go to Project Settings→Automation

Click on Create Rule in the upper right corner

Select the Trigger. In this case we are going to select the "Issue created" trigger.

Save.

To limit the Automation Rule to standard issuetypes (Story, Bug, etc), add a New condition:

In this case, we will add a JQL condition

Enter your JQL query. You can click on Validate query to ensure it returns results.

Save.

Add New Acton

Click on Create Sub-tasks

Click on Add another sub-task until you have the appropriate number of sub-tasks.

Give your sub-task a descriptive name. Example: "Dev Analysis". Click on Add Fields to populate additional field upon creation.

You will need to add the Sub-task type field as this will be a required field and the sub-task will not be created if that field value is not indicated.

Update the project field to indicate specific project or "Same project" if you want the option to use in other projects.

Select the field(s) you want to populate

You can even copy the Description and other fields from the parent issue.

Clicking on "Copy Description from Current issue"  gives you more options for populating that field.

Once you have determine all the fields you want to populate and the values to use, Save.

Repeat for each Sub-task.
